Linn State students receive Breaking Traditions Award

Five students from Linn State Technical College have received top honors in Missouri’s annual Breaking Traditions Awards program. 

 -       Loren Busenhart, a student in the Physical Therapist Assistant program, was awarded the Region IV male award winner for postsecondary.  

 -       Morgan Jenkins, a student in the Medium/Heavy Truck Technology program, was awarded the Region IV female award winner for postsecondary.

 -       Carrie Bertolotti, a student in the Commercial Turf and Grounds Management program, received a Region IV female honorable mention for postsecondary.

 -       Anna Conroy, a student in the Networking Systems Technology, Telecommunications option, received a Region IV female honorable mention for postsecondary.

 -       Dee Vaughan, a student in the Networking Systems Technology program, received a Region IV female honorable mention for postsecondary.

Since 1994, the Breaking Traditions program has recognized outstanding students who have chosen career and technical education programs based on their interests and abilities, and who have not let gender influence their career goals.

The Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education sponsors the Breaking Traditions awards in conjunction with the Missouri Center for Career Education (MCCE) and the MCCE Career Education Coordinators. 

State student winners will receive scholarship offers from every Missouri community college and Linn State Technical College, as well as a scholarship from the Friends of the Missouri Women’s Council.

With more than 35 programs, Linn State Technical College is Missouri’s only public two-year technical college with a statewide mission.   LSTC prepares students for profitable employment and a life of learning.  LSTC has three locations in Linn, Mexico and Jefferson City.
