Linn State student national winner at PAS
Commercial Turf and Grounds Management student, Todd Crane returned from the 30th Annual National Postsecondary Agriculture Students Organization (PAS) conference a first place winner.
Crane, a native of Bowling Green, competed in the Career Progress – Horticulture, Environmental and Natural Resource Systems competition.
“It was a great learning experience for me,” said Crane. “I’m confident it will help me in my future.”
Crane, along with seven other LSTC students enrolled in the Commercial Turf and Grounds Management program traveled to St. Louis March 17-20 for the PAS conference.
LSTC students competed against students from seventeen other states across the country. LSTC students participated in various events such as Ornamental Horticulture Landscape and Floral competitions, Employment Interview contests and Career Planning and Career progress contests.
Dustin Mullins, Tipton, also came home from the conference a winner, earning a second place in Employment Interview – Fertilizer and Agriculture Chemicals.

“I’m very proud of Todd and Dustin,” said Nick Rackers, Commercial Turf and Grounds Management instructor. “Placing at the national competition was a great way to cap off their college experience.”
Other LSTC participants included Carrie Bertolotti, Jefferson City; Rich Dryer, Camdenton; Cody Hemeyer, Morrison; Hannah Martin, Eugene; Erich Monk, Saint Clair; and Craig Russell, Linn.
“The group of students we took to nationals this year is one of the best groups to ever represent the college,” said Rackers.
In addition to competitions, students went on tours to the Missouri Botanical Garden, CityGarden and the Jefferson National Expansion Memorial.
With more than 25 programs, Linn State Technical College is Missouri’s only public two-year technical college with a statewide mission. LSTC has campuses in Linn, Mexico and Jefferson City. LSTC prepares students for profitable employment and a life of learning.
