Linn State Nuclear Technology instructor receives certification
Bruce Meffert, Nuclear Technology Chair and Instructor at Linn State
Technical College, has received notification from the American Academy of
Health Physics (AAHP) that he is qualified to be a Certified Health Physicist.
Meffert, who has been with Linn State since 2004, successfully passed Parts I
and II of the certification exam. As a person certified as a health physicist,
Meffert is being recognized for his knowledge and expertise in the area of
radiation safety.
Meffert joins over 1,200 members of the AAHP that have been certified as health
physicists. “The certification is the pinnacle of a career in radiation protection,”
said Meffert.
Linn State’s Nuclear Technology program is located in Mexico, Missouri at the
Advanced Technology Center. The Associate of Applied Science degree
program is the only one of its kind in Missouri and one of only a handful in the
nation. In 2011, The Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) registered the program as a
Nuclear Uniform Curriculum Program (NUCP) in partnership with Exelon
Corporation.
With more than 35 programs, Linn State Technical College is Missouri’s only
public two-year technical college with a statewide mission. LSTC prepares
students for profitable employment and a life of learning. LSTC has three
locations in Linn, Mexico and Jefferson City.
