Linn State Construction & Civil Technology receives $3,000 donation

The Construction & Civil Technology program at Linn State Technical College has received a $3,000 donation from the Associated General Contractors (AGC) of Missouri.

On Monday, Doug Smith, president of the AGC of Missouri, presented the check to Diane Heckemeyer, Construction & Civil Technology Chair and Instructor and Linn State President, Dr. Donald Claycomb.

Smith said Linn State Technical College has been a tremendous partner with AGC of Missouri.  “This contribution is not only an investment in Linn State but an investment in construction and the future of the industry,” commented Smith.  “We are happy to help.”

The donation will be used to secure additional funding to purchase needed equipment and training aids such as surveying instruments, materials testing laboratory equipment, and industry related software for classroom teaching.  Cash gifts can be matched fifty percent by the Trade & Industry grant through the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education.

The Construction & Civil Technology program is a specialized technical program offering associate-level advanced technical education in current and future civil and construction engineering curriculums devoted to the development of engineering technicians, material testing personnel, land surveyors, construction estimators, construction management trainees and other personnel engaged in the field of construction and civil technology.

The Associated General Contractors of Missouri is the leading organization representing heavy, highway and municipal-utility contractors across Missouri and the Midwest.  Founded in 1925, the AGC of Missouri is the leading trade group representing the construction industry.

With more than 35 academic programs, Linn State Technical College is Missouri’s only public two-year technical college with a statewide mission to prepare students for profitable employment and a life of learning.
