Linn State students take top honors in PAS competition
State conference held on Linn State campus
Earlier this week, Linn State Technical College was host for the Missouri Postsecondary Agricultural Student (PAS) organization’s annual state conference.
Students from across the state of Missouri visited the main campus in Linn, MO to compete in various career program areas.
Linn State students enrolled in the Commercial Turf & Grounds Management (CTG) program participated in the contests in which several students received top honors.
Chris Bowen, Jefferson City, MO was a first place winner in Career Planning, Horticulture, Environmental & Natural Resource Systems.
In the category of Employment Interview, three Linn State students finished in first place. Ben Schmitz, Westphalia, MO won first place in Employment Interview, Ag Business Sales; Sam Poettgen, Freeburg, MO won first in Employment Interview, Landscaping & Nursery; and Will Register, Sedalia, MO was first in Employment Interview, Fertilizer & Ag Chemicals.
Four CTG students walked away with first place in the Specialist Contests. Ryan Mosley, Linn, MO, and Josh Kucsik, Linn, MO, finished in first place for Floriculture, Team. Mosley also took first in Floriculture, Individual. Poettgen and Nick Zeilman, Linn, MO were first in Landscape & Nursery, Team. Alex Huetten, Excelsior Springs, MO finished in first place for Landscape and Nursery, Individual.
Students who qualify at state will compete at the National PAS conference in Des Moines, IA.
Bowen was also selected by delegates at the conference to serve as the 2012-2013 Missouri PAS Vice-President.
