Linn State students bound for National SkillsUSA
Earlier this spring, 19 Linn State Technical College students received gold medals at the Missouri Leadership and Skills Conference (SkillsUSA), qualifying them to compete at next week’s National SkillsUSA Championships in Kansas City on June 19 – June 24.
More than 15,000 people, including students, teachers and business partners, are expected to participate in the week-long conference. Linn State students will be among 5,600 other outstanding career and technical education students competing hands-on in 94 different trade, technical and leadership fields.
Linn State students will compete in automated manufacturing, automotive refinishing, aviation maintenance, electronics, internetworking, motorcycle service, precision machining, residential wiring, technical math, telecommunication cabling, and opening/closing ceremonies contests.
According to Aaron Kliethermes, Linn State SkillsUSA Advisor, the students are ready to compete. “The students have completed their semester technical classes that have taught them more skills in helping them prepare for their technical contests,” said Kliethermes.
“The students have shown a lot of excitement about getting the experience to become the “gold” medalist in their technical field,” commented Kliethermes. “Knowing they are representing the Missouri SkillsUSA Association and are “gold” medalists for the great state of Missouri is an excitement that will live in them forever.”
