Linn State awarded funding for recycling program
Linn State Technical College was recently awarded $78,000 to assist with the recycling efforts on the main campus in Linn, Missouri. The funding was approved by the Mid-Missouri Solid Waste Management District (MMSWMD).
The funds will allow for the purchase of a truck outfitted with a hook lift, two covered 20 yard roll-off bins, a concrete pad to place the roll-off bins on and ample small recycling containers.
According to Jason Hoffmeyer, LSTC Counselor, LSTC will be recycling more than just paper. “We will be recycling paper, plastic, magazines and cardboard,” said Hoffmeyer. “It is expected that recycling efforts will save LSTC money on refuse expenses and generate revenue from sold diverted material.”
In addition to the funding, LSTC expects to utilize the resources already available on campus. The Medium Heavy Truck Technology program will maintain the truck and the Heavy Equipment Operators program has agreed to transport the materials while training CDL students.
With more than 35 programs, Linn State Technical College is Missouri’s only public two-year technical college with a statewide mission. LSTC has campuses in Linn, Mexico and Jefferson City. LSTC prepares students for profitable employment and a life of learning.
